The Christian W. Klay Winery will partner again this year with the Historic Stone House Restaurant and Country Inn as they present their annual Chili Cook-Off & Laurel Highlands Harvest Festival on Sun., Sept. 21, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

“Again this year, we are inviting non-profit and civic organizations to compete in the chili cook-off.  The first place winner will receive a $250 donation for their organization, plus hayride, wine tasting, and a hot dog roast in the vineyard for up to 25 people.  The organization with the most tastings will win the People’s Choice Award,” explained Sharon Klay, winery owner and wine maker.

In addition, the winery is inviting individuals to compete in a freestyle competition.  Prizes include: first place - $150; second place - $100; third place - $75.

“This is a great opportunity for local non-profit and civic groups to earn some money for their organizations while gaining some awareness and having some fun all at the same time.  Individuals entering the competition have the opportunity to win some fabulous prizes and “bragging rights”, added Klay.

Interested groups and individuals can contact the winery at 724-439-3424 if they have questions or need additional information.

In addition to the chili cook-off, the Laurel Highlands Harvest Festival will feature: live entertainment by jazz legend Harold Betters, regional crafters, food vendors, Buy Local farmers market, cooking demonstrations, grape stomping with Lucille Ball look-alike contest, wine tasting, hot pepper eating contest and activities for the kids.

A suggested donation of $5 at the gate for those attending this event will benefit the Raymond E.
